Mark Stoops was quick to welcome Texas and Oklahoma to the conference once the two schools formally accepted the league’s invitations on Friday. Through Twitter, Stoops congratulated the SEC’s two new family members, noting his own family connection to Oklahoma through two of his older brothers.
Bob Stoops, the oldest of the Stoops boys, is Oklahoma’s all-time winningest coach with 190 wins from 1999 to 2016, including the 2000 BCS national championship. Mike Stoops was Oklahoma’s associate head coach and defensive coordinator from 1999 to 2003, and again from 2012 to 2018.
“Congratulations to Oklahoma and Texas as they join the SEC,” Mark Stoops tweeted Friday afternoon.
