In the second quarter against Mississippi State on Saturday afternoon, Kentucky quarterback Sawyer Smith took a hit to the shoulder that led to him running back to the locker room for an X-ray. Once the team came back from halftime, Smith remained in the locker room for the first defensive possession until the offense returned to the field.
While he played through the pain in the second half, Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops said during his weekly press conference this afternoon that had the team practiced on Sunday, Smith would not have been able to throw.
“Hopefully he’ll be good today,” Stoops said of Sawyer.
