Mark Stoops' first UK football season offers lessons for Scott Satterfield at Louisville

LEXINGTON – No one in the Bluegrass State needs reminding that Kentucky and Louisville fans don’t like each other.

Even with the annual Governor’s Cup rivalry football game more than three months away, the rivalry is never far from the minds of local college sports fans. But as we wait for the 2019 season to kick off, is it possible the rivalry might actually tell us something about what to expect this fall?

As I’ve followed Cameron Teague Robinson’s already excellent coverage of the early days of the Scott Satterfield era at Louisville — he’s got even more fun content coming soon, by the way — I can’t help but be reminded of my own experience covering Mark Stoops’ first season in Lexington.
