Miami needs a new coach with Mark Richt stepping down, and it sounds like Mark Stoops is a candidate for the opening.
According to Justin Rowland of Cats Illustrated, Stoops is “likely to be a candidate” for Miami’s head-coaching job.
While it’s unclear if Stoops would actually consider this job, there’s plenty of reason to believe the Hurricanes would have him as a serious candidate. The biggest is his previous coaching stint there as the secondary coach from 2001-03, where he coached future Pro Football Hall of Fame safety Ed Reed, as well as Pro Bowl safety Sean Taylor.
