Monk, of course, made UK Basketball history on Saturday with his 47-point performance vs. North Carolina, which included 18-28 shooting, 8-12 from behind the arc. Monk’s 47 points were the most scored by an SEC freshman since LSU’s Chris Jackson scored 55 vs. Ole Miss back on March 4, 1989. This is Monk’s second SEC honor this season. He was named SEC Freshman of the Week after his performance vs. Michigan State last month.
Meanwhile, this is De’Aaron Fox’s third SEC Freshman of the Week honor. While Monk stole the show vs. North Carolina on Saturday, Fox had a huge game as well, putting up a career-high 24 points, 10 assists, and only two turnovers.
