Lynn Bowden is your recipient of the 2019 Paul Hornung award!
Kentucky’s wide receiver/punt returner/kick returner/quarterback took home the hardware for the most versatile player in college football, the Louisville Sports Commission announced Wednesday morning. Bowden was one of four finalists for the award, along with Frankfort native Wandale Robinson of Nebraska, LSU’s Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Virginia’s Joe Reed. Robinson won the online fan vote (eat it, Cornhusker bots.)
Bowden averaged 8.2 yards per rushing attempt in 2019, which leads the SEC and ranks second nationally. He also is the only player in the nation leading his team in both rushing (1,235) and pass receiving (348), and ranks 13th on UK’s career receptions list with 114 and 18th on the career receiving yards list with 1,303 yards.
