LSU’s splash shields “like breathing in a Ziploc bag”

On Friday, LSU’s equipment staff sent out pictures of the team’s new “splash shields” designed to protect players from coronavirus. The early reviews are in and they are not kind.

Yesterday, two LSU players complained about the shields on TikTok, with offensive lineman Austin Deculus claiming wearing one was “like breathing in a Ziploc bag.” (Warning: language NSFW!)

Unlike the Oakley Mouth Shield the NFL is planning to use this season, LSU’s splash shields don’t have any openings around the mouth for breathability, hence the fogging.
