The Houston Rockets changed hands last fall for a reported price of $2.2 billion, or roughly $2.1 billion more than Leslie Alexander paid for them in 1993. Forbes magazine estimated last week that every one of the NBA’s 30 franchises is worth at least $1 billion and that the average outfit appreciated by 22 percent last year alone.
