Louisville took Game 1 of NCAA’s best-of-three bluegrass super regional on Friday afternoon, beating Kentucky 5-2 before a spirited record crowd of 6,235 at Jim Patterson Stadium behind a solid start from pitcher Kade McClure and a two-out, three-run home run by Drew Ellis.
For the first time in three years, Louisville (51-10) has won the opening game of an NCAA super regional in its stadium, having lost Game 1s – and series – the past two years.
