Louisville takes first game of NCAA Super Regional against Kentucky

The more seasoned postseason team is now one game from the College World Series.

The other must now win two in a row to get there.

Louisville took Game 1 of NCAA’s best-of-three bluegrass super regional on Friday afternoon, beating Kentucky 5-2 before a spirited record crowd of 6,235 at Jim Patterson Stadium behind a solid start from pitcher Kade McClure and a two-out, three-run home run by Drew Ellis.

For the first time in three years, Louisville (51-10) has won the opening game of an NCAA super regional in its stadium, having lost Game 1s – and series – the past two years.
