GAINESVILLE, Fla. — A part of Mark Stoops wanted this to work out differently.
It would have been fun for the Kentucky football coach to break Paul "Bear" Bryant's school record for wins at home in Kroger Field with a win Saturday against visiting Youngstown State, Stoops' hometown school.
But Florida came first. And Stoops didn't seem to mind his 20th-ranked Wildcats knocking off No. 12 Florida at The Swamp on Saturday, giving him 61 career wins at Kentucky, one more than Bryant, the legendary Alabama coach who spent eight seasons in Lexington.
"I'm glad it's here," Stoops said.
