Over the course of the last six months, Louisville football has been kept out of a bowl after finishing the 2020 season with a 4-7 final record, head coach Scott Satterfield flirted with South Carolina about its then-vacant head coaching position, four full-time assistants took other jobs and 15 scholarship players from last year’s roster entered the transfer portal. Hell, in the last week alone, Nebraska star quarterback transfer Luke McCaffrey decided to leave the program after just a few days on campus and the team’s recruiting coordinator, David Cooper, left to take a job at Georgia during a significant recruiting weekend on campus.
