LEXINGTON, Ky. – Former Kentucky basketball player Dwane Casey did not have to wait long to find a new coaching job.
The reining NBA Coach of the Year was fired by the Toronto Raptors on May 11. Reports emerged exactly one month later that he would be hired as the Detroit Pistons new coach.
With the Orlando Magic firing former UK student manager Frank Vogel earlier this offseason, Casey is now the only UK graduate serving as a head coach in the NBA, but there are several former Wildcats working in that capacity for Division I college programs.
