Last night, I found myself watching the ESPYs, mainly because the hotel TV only has so many channels and I had nothing better to do than read people’s tweets about it. As you might expect, ESPN’s decision to give the Arthur Ashe Courage Award to Caitlyn Jenner instead of Lauren Hill, the late Mount St. Joseph’s basketball player who died from brain cancer; or Devon and Leah Still, the father and daughter duo who beat up cancer, was a popular topic of debate.
Personally, I respect and admire Caitlyn Jenner’s journey and found her speech moving, but I want to focus on Lauren, Devon, and Leah’s stories today.
