Kentucky’s season opener against Albany tonight marked the debut of star freshman center Skal Labissiere, who made headlines with his commitment to the Wildcats as he was the No. 2 overall recruit of the Class of 2015. Despite a slow start, Labissiere showed that he is indeed a special kind of player who can make it seem as though last year’s freshman sensation, Karl-Anthony Towns, never left.
Look at it this way. At halftime, Labissiere only had four rebounds and no points scored. He didn’t even have a blocked shot.
By the end of Kentucky’s 78-65 victory at Rupp Arena, Labissiere had nine points to go with five rebounds and four blocked shots.
