Riding on the back of Oscar Tshiebwe, Kentucky men’s basketball relied on the reigning national player of the year down the stretch to pull out a 69-59 win over the Yale Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon at Rupp Arena.
Tshiebwe scored 22 of his 28 points in the second half as his teammates began to force-feed him the ball on almost every possession. There was simply nothing the Yale bigs could do against the 6-foot-9 tank, who also corralled 12 rebounds in his 38 minutes of action. Tshiebwe was aided by 10 points apiece from Sahvir Wheeler and Antonio Reeves while stud freshman Cason Wallace chipped in eight points and five rebounds.
