Red-zone is a commonly used football term, but at times its importance can be misconstrued. By definition, the red-zone is the area on the football field that describes the distance from the 20-yard line going into the goal line. Or in simpler terms, the final 20 yards prior to scoring a touchdown.
Life in the red-zone is completely different than in the open field. Teams constantly drill and practice red-zone offense and defense. Intense and intended execution in both phases can greatly influence the outcome of football games.
