Florida star forward Keyontae Johnson’s medical emergency was not related to COVID-19, his family announced Wednesday afternoon.
After meeting with physicians from the Cardiac and Vascular Institute of Gainesville, University of Washington Center for Sports Cardiology, Massachusetts General Hospital at Harvard University, Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Yale University School of Medicine, results concluded that Johnson’s collapse mid-game at Florida State on Dec. 12 – one that resulted in the junior forward being hospitalized and placed in a medically-induced coma – “was not related to a previous or current Covid diagnosis.”
“We are so grateful for the outpouring of support and well wishes for Keyontae and our entire family,” Johnson’s family announced, via the Florida men’s basketball program.
