Kentucky women's unhappy ending doesn't diminish Rhyne Howard's impressive legacy

Special to The Courier Journal

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Saturday was not supposed to be the final chapter in Rhyne Howard’s legendary career at Kentucky.

The star-studded senior missed her final three shots as Princeton ended the Wildcats’ 10-game winning streak with a 69-62 victory in the first round of the women's NCAA Tournament at Indiana University’s Assembly Hall.

She finished with 17 points and eight rebounds, not far off from her 20.6 and 7.3 averages entering March Madness.
