On Friday afternoon at the Red Raider Open in Lubbock, TX, UK sprinter Masai Russell set a new women’s collegiate record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.75 seconds, nearly a quarter-second faster than the second-place finisher in the same race, Texas Tech’s Demisha Roswell (7.98). Russell almost broke the school record in the 60m hurdles last week at the 2023 Rod McCravy Memorial in Lexington, coming .01 seconds short of Keni Harrison’s record (7.87 seconds) with a time of 7.
