Kentucky womens tennis (7-6) split its double header on Saturday, losing to the No. 16 Tennessee Volunteers (11-2) by a score of 4-2 and defeating Bellarmine (3-11) 5-2.
The day began on the doubles courts, and it did not go the Wildcats’ way as freshman Zoe Hammond and sophomore Ellie Eades were defeated by a score of 6-2.
The pair of junior Makayla Mills and senior Florencia Urrutia had the same bad luck as their teammates as they were also defeated 6-2, giving Tennessee the doubles point and making the score 1-0 going into singles play.
Singles matches began with the same fate for Kentucky as Eades was defeated in straight sets by scores of 6-4 and 6-0 to give the Vols a 2-0 lead.
