No. 5 seeded Kentucky women’s soccer (11-5-5) lost to No. 4 seeded Notre Dame (14-3-4) by a score of 3-1 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Notre Dame’s offense had an explosive start, as it knocked in two goals in the first 13 minutes of the match.
The first goal was scored by Izzy Engle in the fourth minute and was assisted by Grace Restovich.
The second goal was scored by Lily Joseph on a penalty kick after Michelle Moskau was called for a foul inside the box.
While the Cats outshot the Fighting Irish 6-5 in the first half, they were unable to cash any of those shots in, which made the score 2-0 at halftime.
