Kentucky earned a huge 85-81 victory at No. 4 Tennessee this afternoon to lock up a bye in next week’s Southeastern Conference Tournament.
The Wildcats (23-8, 13-5 SEC) led by as many as 14 points in the second half, then held off a ferocious Tennessee rally to get the victory.
Antonio Reeves and Reed Sheppard each scored 27 points to pace Kentucky. Reeves also led the team with 7 rebounds. Sheppard pulled 6 boards and dished out a team-high 5 assists. Justin Edwards added 16 points and 6 rebounds. Rob Dillingham chipped in 11 points.
Dalton Knecht exploded for 40 points for the Volunteers (24-7, 14-4).
