Kentucky, Wichita State meet with more than ever at stake

The Courier-Journal

INDIANAPOLIS – A specific question to Wichita State players at a press conference Saturday about Kentucky's offense sent junior forward Rashard Kelly on a tangent.

He didn't answer the question, but instead painted a bigger, broader picture of an impending significant matchup of basketball royalty versus hungry outsiders.

"They're elite," Kelly said. "You've got the top recruits coming to Kentucky. You've got the Nike Elite gear. They get all the Nike gear. They're elite in everything. We are trying to be elite one day too, Nike."

Playing for a Shockers program that has advanced to the second round in five consecutive NCAA Tournaments, Kelly's stance turned even more humorous when Gregg Marshall took the podium after his players shuffled off.
