Kentucky vs Providence in 1st NCAA Tournament game. Wildcats are No. 6 seed in East Region

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kentucky is headed east to begin March Madness.

The Wildcats (21-11) will travel to Greensboro, North Carolina, as a 6-seed in this season's NCAA Tournament. Kentucky will face 11-seed Providence in the first round Friday from Greensboro Coliseum.

UK is in the East Region of the 68-team bracket, which was released Sunday evening. If the Wildcats advance to the Sweet 16, they will play in New York City.

Sunday marked the 60th time Kentucky earned an NCAA Tournament bid, extending its all-time record. North Carolina, which isn't part of the field this season, is second with 52 appearances.
