No. 17 Kentucky men's basketball (10-2) made a statement in its SEC opener with a 83-56 blowout of Missouri on Wednesday, but its matchup against FCS opponent High Point on New Year's Eve will mean just a little more.
Former Wildcats coach Tubby Smith, currently High Point's head coach, will have his jersey retired in Rupp Arena when the two teams meet at noon Friday. Smith led Kentucky to the 1998 NCAA Championship.
