A shutdown pitching performance by sophomore Grace Baalman wasn’t enough for the No. 14 Kentucky softball team, as the bats just couldn’t quite push anything across against No. 3 Washington’s pair of aces.
UW senior Taran Alvelo threw the first 3.2 innings, sophomore Gabbie Plain tossed the second 3.1, and the change was just enough to keep the UK lineup off-balance all seven frames.
“I thought that was a great coaching move,” Kentucky softball coach Rachel Lawson said. “The two of them, they just give you such a different look. I thought they did a great job managing that part of the game.
