Midnight came for the No. 14 Kentucky softball team’s 2019 season just a bit after 1:30 a.m. in Lexington.
For the second straight night, the Wildcats just couldn’t get anything going against No. 3 Washington on offense, and a 5-0 shutout ended UK’s season at a super regional for the third consecutive year.
“I don’t want to take anything away from them,” head coach Rachel Lawson said. “Great pitching stops good hitting all the time.”
Kentucky finishes the year 36-24 for its fourth straight 35-win season. The Wildcats’ five seniors — Sarah Rainwater, Jenny Schaper, Abbey Cheek, Kelsee Henson, and Katie Reed — finish with a career record of 156-78.
