Kentucky's bats showed in bursts on Friday afternoon as the UK softball team advanced to the winner’s bracket of the Lexington Regional by defeating Toledo, 7-2.
The game started off rocky enough for the home team, as a myriad of singles poked holes in the UK defense in the first inning. With two outs, three consecutive singles scored a Toledo runner, and two more singles brought a second Rocket home. UK’s bleeding finally stopped when Samantha Golden was caught swinging on an 0-2 pitch.
The first flurry of offensive firepower came from UK at the bottom of the first.
