Kentucky sends strong message in first game without Reid Travis

LEXINGTON, Ky. – It was the kind of news that could derail a promising season.

Just three days after John Calipari anointed Reid Travis “the difference” in Kentucky’s blowout win over then-No. 1 Tennessee, the Wildcats were facing multiple weeks without their bruising graduate transfer forward.

The official diagnosis from UK was a right knee sprain that would sideline Travis for at least two weeks, but on the eve of Kentucky’s game against Auburn, Calipari acknowledged the timetable for his return was only an estimate and Travis might be out “three weeks, four weeks, seven weeks.
