LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kentucky routed rival Louisville, 90-61, in the schools' annual rivalry game at Rupp Arena on Friday afternoon.
In a sloppy start, Louisville responded to a 5-0 opening Kentucky run with an 11-0 run of its own. The teams traded baskets for the next 10 minutes, but No. 16 Kentucky seized control of the game with a 20-6 flourish over the half's final eight minutes.
The second half never got closer. It was Kentucky's biggest winning margin in the in-state rivalry since the 1986-87 season, when it won by 34 points.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led all scorers with 24 points and three starters from Kentucky (10-2) scored in double figures.
