The annual in-state rivalry game between Kentucky and Louisville will continue through 2022, according to a copy of the contract between the schools obtained by the Louisville Courier-Journal.

The schools agreed to a three-year extension of their contract to extend the Governor’s Cup series into the next decade, which is the latest addendum to their 2011 deal. The two schools reached a previous extension in 2014 when the series was moved to the final game of the regular season following Louisville’s jump to the ACC, and included matchups through 2019.

Though it became official on Tuesday, UK athletic director Mitch Barnhart and Louisville’s executive senior associate AD Kevin Miller both signed the addendum in January 2016, while Barnhart and Louisville AD Tom Jurich each signed an additional contract regarding ticket allotment for visiting teams in April of that same year.
