After taking easy care of Morehead State to open the season on Wednesday night, the game many have been talking about for months took place on Sunday. Richmond entered the year as the A-10 favorite and is a ballclub many thought should have been in the top 25 to start the season. They returned nearly everyone off a team that would’ve gotten an at-large bid last season had there been an NCAA Tournament. They were going to enter Rupp Arena expecting to win.
That is exactly what happened.
Richmond’s defense befuddled Kentucky in the second half and for the second year in a row a mid-major comes to Lexington and knocks off the Wildcats at home.
