Kentucky Hoops Suffocates Radford

The 19th-ranked UK Hoops team found themselves in a novel situation Sunday afternoon at Memorial Coliseum: a game devoid of overtime.

After consecutive slobberknockers, the Wildcats fought tooth and claw to down Radford 59-36, thanks to a strong defensive effort that offset an off shooting day for Matthew Mitchell’s team.

Kentucky forced the Highlanders into 19 turnovers and claimed 19 points off those same miscues. Radford shot 13-of-53 from the field, a frigid 26 percent, and just 2-of-20 from three-point land.

Radford Head Coach Mike McGuire credited Kentucky’s 2-3 zone with throwing his team’s offensive rhythm off in the early going along with a few missed easy shots.
