Kentucky football without more than 10 players at Alabama due to injuries, quarantines

LEXINGTON — As if the size of Kentucky's challenge at No. 1 Alabama was not enough, the Wildcats are set to play the game with a double-digit number of usual contributors unavailable, a source confirmed to the Courier Journal Saturday morning.

The absences are believed to be due to a combination of injuries and COVID-19 quarantines due to positive tests and contact tracing. While the situation looks harrowing considering Kentucky was already a 30-point underdog before reports of the absences began to surface, the source said UK had not considered asking the league to postpone the game.

Both of Kentucky's starting offensive guards, Luke Fortner and Kenneth Horsey, have been dealing with injuries.
