LEXINGTON, Ky. — Six wins will separate the Kentucky and Louisville football teams when they meet in the annual Governor’s Cup Rivalry on Saturday.
But the comparison between the 8-3 Wildcats and 2-9 Cardinals doesn’t come close to the mismatch between the two programs in the early days of the rivalry.
From 1912 to 1924, Kentucky and Louisville met six times. UK won all six games by a combined score of 220-0.
"The Falls City eleven was up against a team that was too heavy, too experienced and too good for them, but nevertheless the Cardinals never gave up fighting," the Courier Journal reported in the Oct.
