Kentucky football rolls to Governor's Cup blowout of Louisville

Sometimes the conventional wisdom is correct.

Kentucky clinched its first nine-win regular season since 1977 while Louisville’s disastrous 2-10 season ended with a 56-10 UK rout to return the Governor’s Cup trophy to Lexington on Saturday.

UK had entered the game as a 16.5-point favorite, and a Courier Journal poll of 46 local reporters covering both programs returned a unanimous slate of predictions for a Kentucky win.

The Wildcats’ 46-point margin of victory was the largest in the rivalry since Kentucky won 73-0 in 1922. UK's 56 points were the third-most scored by Kentucky in the series' 31 games.
