What do storied college football programs like the ones at Auburn, Florida State, Miami and Tennessee have in common with Kentucky?

His name is Eddie Gran.

And as the offensive coordinator in Lexington after such previous coaching stops, he’s living a vision that often wasn’t a reality for his current unit.

“Hopefully, when people watch our offense they say, ‘Get ready. You’re playing guys that are tough and physical and will get after your rear end,'” Gran said.

Oh yes, Kentucky. Your team – one whose offensive respect in recent decades has often come via spread-it-out-and-sling-it-into-space stalwarts like Hal Mumme and Tim Couch and Jared Lorenzen and Andre Woodson and Randall Cobb and, more recently, Neal Brown's and then Shannon Dawson’s “Air Raid” system – is now relatively boring and tantalizing effective.
