From the tip, things couldn’t have gone better for Kentucky in their Sunday afternoon matchup, jumping out to an 11-0 run to start the game, with seven of those points coming from sophomore guard Immanuel Quickley. That seven-point start for Quickley ballooned even further, with the 6-foot-3 guard accounting for 12 of the team’s first 21 points, tripling Georgetown’s point total (4) by himself in just 6:30 of play.
Outside of Quickley, Ashton Hagans, Keion Brooks Jr., EJ Montgomery, and Nick Richards rounded out the opening-night starters, with Tyrese Maxey, Kahlil Whitney, and Nate Sestina entering the game in mass substitution form after the first television timeout.
