Kentucky came up short in its first big test of the 2023-24 season Tuesday night in Chicago.
The Wildcats (2-1) couldn’t hold off the Jayhawks down the stretch on the way to an 89-84 loss. The Cats came up short, but they showed a lot of promise compared to some of John Calipari’s recent teams.
Hunter Dickinson took advantage of Kentucky being short-handed in the frontcourt, finished with 27 points, 21 rebounds, 14 over the backs and one embarrassing flop (that actually worked).
Antonio Reeves led Kentucky with 24 points and 8 rebounds. Rob Dillingham added 18 points.
