With the NCAA going away from the RPI rankings and moving forward with the NCAA Evaluation Tool (NET) to determine the selections and seedings when March Madness rolls around, while they may seem a bit off from time to time, it’s definitely important to keep the updated results in mind.
And that’s why it’s impressive that even following Kentucky’s home loss on Tuesday night to the LSU Tigers, the NET ratings list the Wildcats at No. 6 overall, good for the second-best 2-seed overall.
The NET ranking system will incorporate game results, strength of schedule, game location, scoring margin (capping at 10 points per game), and net offensive and defensive efficiency.
