LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kentucky baseball is in territory it’s traversed only once before.
A hard-fought 4-2 win over Indiana Monday evening, in front of a record crowd of 6,796 at Kentucky Proud Park, helped the Wildcats clinch an NCAA regional championship.
More importantly, it put Kentucky into a super regional for only the second time in program history, alongside the 2017 team.
The parallels between the two are jarring.
UK was the regional host both times and the path was the same: it won the first regional game, dropped the second, then won the last three to seal a super regional berth.
