Tre Mitchell became the first transfer of the offseason to commit to Kentucky basketball, after leaving the West Virginia program amid Bob Huggins resignation.
Mitchell started his career at UMass, playing for the Minutemen for two seasons, before leaving for the Texas Longhorns in 2021. Last year, he played for his third team, averaging 11.7 points per game for West Virginia.
Now, Mitchell will play in the SEC, becoming a much-needed addition to a Kentucky basketball team made up of mostly freshmen and sophomores. The decision comes shortly after fifth-year senior Antonio Reeves decided to return to Kentucky.
