Kentucky basketball losing streak hits five games with loss to North Carolina

LEXINGTON - Kentucky basketball has lost five games in a row for the first time since the 1989-90 season.

The Wildcats went more than nine minutes without a field goal at one point in the second half of a 75-63 loss to No. 21 North Carolina. The loss dropped UK to 1-5 on the season, with the Cats' only victory coming in the opener against Morehead State.

Despite few contributions from its frontcourt, Kentucky led 38-34 at halftime. The Wildcats stretched their lead to six at 48-42 with 13:15 left in the game before North Carolina took control with a 12-1 run.
