LEXINGTON - More than a decade after spurning Kentucky as a highly touted recruit, Jai Lucas is finally joining the Wildcat basketball program.
Lucas, previously an assistant coach at Texas, is set to join John Calipari's staff as special assistant to the head coach and recruiting coordinator, a newly created role following the departure of associate head coach Kenny Payne to the New York Knicks. Lucas' hiring comes after the hire of Indiana assistant Bruiser Flint for Payne's spot among the three full-time assistant coaches.
"For our team to add a young but established and accomplished coach to our staff was an opportunity we were thrilled to have,” UK coach John Calipari said in a news release.
