LEXINGTON – The Southeastern Conference looks set for a major makeover.
On Tuesday, the league confirmed Texas and Oklahoma had submitted formal requests for invitations to join the league in 2025. Whether that move becomes official in 2025, when the schools' current Big 12 contract expires, or the legal teams of all parties are able to coordinate an earlier move, change is coming.
For Kentucky, those additions mean regular matchups with two traditional powers in a host of sports, including football and men’s basketball.
UK’s history with Texas and Oklahoma in those sports is not long, but it does include several highlights, including perhaps the biggest win in the football program’s history.
