LEXINGTON — As the Kentucky baseball team played its first game in almost a year, the Wildcats did so with former teammate Ben Jordan on their minds.
Kentucky played its 2021 season opener at Kentucky Proud Park against Miami (Ohio) with "B3N" painted onto the back of the pitching mound. Jordan, a junior right-handed pitcher, wore number three, died unexpectedly in January.
"It’s been a hard time," UK baseball coach Nick Mingione said recently at the team's preseason media day. "The thing that’s probably helped a lot of the players and myself the most has just been hearing all the stories, all the great things about Ben.
