We’re talking about Virginia recruiting, but this isn’t about Tony Bennett courting Reed Sheppard. Over on the gridiron, Kentucky and the Wahoos are constantly finding themselves in on similar prospects.
The Cavaliers made a pretty significant splash following the 2015 season when former athletic director Craig Littlepage found a way to hire BYU head coach Bronco Mendenhall. The Utah native had spent 13 years in Provo with the last 11 coming as the head football coach. While running the program, the Cougars were 99-43 under Mendenhall’s supervision with five top-25 finishes and a bowl appearance every season.
This was a splashy hire for a program that was having difficulties gaining traction in the ACC Coastal.
