Kentucky’s Kenneth Horsey is receiving recognition for overcoming a traumatic health condition to thrive in the SEC. Monday afternoon the redshirt sophomore offensive guard was named one of 14 semifinalists for the 2020 Mayo Clinic Comeback Player of the Year Award
In the spring of 2018 Horsey was rushed to the hospital on Easter Sunday. Days later he would undergo open-heart surgery to remove a growth on his heart valve. Horsey and his family detailed the frightening experience with Kentucky Sports Radio.
Despite the dangerous circumstances, Horsey was never deterred. He arrived in Lexington in the summer and began training immediately.
