A federal judge denied a request to throw out some recordings from the FBI's investigation into college basketball recruiting because at least one wiretap order did not include the name of the official who authorized it.
U.S. District Judge Lewis A. Kaplan wrote on Monday that the mistake on the April 7 wiretap order of sports agent Christian Dawkins' phone was an "obvious clerical error."
Dawkins moved to suppress the evidence seized from the order and asked for the court to disclose transcripts of a grand jury's indictment proceedings when they were presented with the evidence from the wiretaps.
