On Friday morning, Vanderbilt University announced Bryce Drew had been fired as the head coach of the men’s basketball team.
Today, Adam Zagoria of ZagsBlog.com is reporting the Commodores have zeroed in on former Georgetown head coach John Thompson III as his replacement.
“Former Georgetown coach John Thompson III is the “leader” to replace Bryce Drew at Vanderbilt,” Zagoria said, via “multiple sources.”
Thompson, 53, was fired at Georgetown in 2017 after 13 seasons with the program. He led the Hoyas to eight NCAA Tournament appearances, including the 2007 Final Four and a Sweet 16 in 2006.
